Real Bride: Gabrielle in Ender Legard

Real Bride: Gabrielle in Ender Legard

Back in August, 2018 Gabrielle and Luke tied the knot in Sydney in a non-conventional wedding that included a classic 1970’s VW Combo, an acoustic guitar and 40 close friends and family - proving that brides don’t need to dress in white to look stunning and that weddings don’t need to be conventional to be fun!

With their 2-year anniversary fast approaching, we decided to revisit their wedding to wish Gabrielle and Luke a Happy Anniversary! xxx

Luke and I married on a gorgeous winter’s day in Sydney back in August of 2018. We had a small wedding of 40 for lunch at Aqua Dining at Milsons Point - which was a great venue, right under the Harbour Bridge and next to Luna Park.

We used the fantastic weather and married on their terrace before the reception so we were all in one place the whole time. I had everyone arrive half an hour early to do a group photo before we went upstairs to the ceremony. Aqua Dining were fantastic (and the food and service were both great too!)

Before we left home, we had one more cuddle with our beloved dogs as unfortunately they couldn’t come with us!

We chose a 1970’s VW Combi as our wedding car to fit both us and the boys.

I wore my ENDER LEGARD black Carmen bodysuit and it was perfect! It gave me a great shape but also was invisible under the red lace of my dress and was the only bodysuit I could find that actually was backless so it didn’t show under backless my dress. (My dress is Rachel Zoe which I bought online!!)

Luke’s beautiful 3 teenage sons entered ahead of us and then we came in together. We didn’t have any bridal parties (except the boys) and my Mum Carol and Luke’s Dad Anthony we’re our witnesses.

Aqua was the perfect location for our ceremony and Luke topped it off by signing for us all while the boys looked on.

Our cake came from Art of Baking in Gladesville and was exactly what I wanted- delicious and looked beautiful. Every tier was a different flavour and all were perfect although I think my favourite was the pistachio cake with rose water icing.

Matt at Rope and Pulley Photography did a great job with our photos and we subsequently discovered that Matt is descended from the same 2 First Fleeters as I am through my mother, so we are distantly related. Those 2 convicts were Anthony Rope and Elizabeth Pulley and Matt named his business after them as they have a very cool story (too long to include here!) but they were the 58th wedding of the Colony in May 1788).

And with that - and a cheeky little bum pinch (!) - we were Mr & Mrs.

Love, Gabrielle and Luke
